Fly'n squirrel was created by Joel Cotton, the inventor of RoadShower, an innovative outdoor product that went from an idea to a successful commercial product.
After years of designing products for people who love the outdoors, Joel set out to create a shelter that solved a problem he kept seeing: traditional shelters are heavy, bulky, and often struggle in the wind.
Fly'n squirrel is the result — a radically lightweight shelter designed to work with the wind, not against it.

I love hiking to remote beaches in Baja, Mexico, and finding a quiet place to sit and take it all in—the waves, the sky, and the feeling of being somewhere far away from everything.
My wife and I especially love having shade at the beach. But I couldn't find a shelter that was small enough to fit in my carry-on luggage and strong enough to handle the wind on remote beaches.
So I decided to invent one.
I taught myself how to sew and spent two years working on designs that ultimately went nowhere. Eventually, I came up with a completely different approach—the wing-shaped design that became Fly'n squirrel.
We took the new version with us to Italy, where we did a lot of hiking, and it worked great. That's when I knew I had created something worth pursuing.
Now we take it hiking, camping and backpacking. It has a lot of uses.
Fly'n squirrel.is for people who want to get farther from the crowds, carry less, and spend more time enjoying the places they came to see.
